Dan Jawitz
Producer
Dan Jawitz is the Producer/Executive Producer of more than 20 documentaries,
2 feature films and numerous television series.
As producer of the film A Lions Trail, he won an Emmy in 2006 for
"outstanding cultural and artistic achievement". The film was directed by
Francois Verster and co-produced by Mark Kaplan of Rapid Blue. Jawitz
co-produced with Kaplan, the 13 x 26' television, radio and internet based
series "African Renaissance" which focuses on cultural, political and social
progress in 7 African countries. He produced and co-directed Glimpse, a 22
minute film which received a special award for "originality" at the South
African Film and TV Awards (SAFTA's) and was screened at many festivals
around the world.
He is member of the Independent Producers Organisation (IPO) Executive
Committee, the South African Screen Federation (SASFED ) Executive Committee
and is a founder member and former Executive Committee member of The
Producers Alliance (TPA), and of the Film and Electronic Media Chamber of
MAPPP Seta.
Dan currently advises the SA National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) on
distribution and marketing.
